Wasp and Yellow Jacket Removal

Wasps and yellow jackets are not honey bees. They defend a nest hard, and we put safety first on every nest.

Why call now
Nests only get bigger.

Wasps do not move on the way a swarm does. The nest stays until someone takes it down.

Safety
Nobody stands underneath.

People and pets stay well back while a nest comes down. That part is not optional.

Availability
Weekends too.

Nest calls come in on weekends, and we take them then.

Local crew
Valley wide.

Nest calls run across the same valley cities as the bee work, out of the Murrieta office.

Wasp nests are removed, not relocated.

The nest comes down, and the area is usable again.

Is this your job?

Wasps and yellow jackets, or honey bees?

The species decides how this gets handled, so check these signs before anything else.

A grey papery nest under an eave, in a shrub or on a structure.

Paper wasps hang the nest out in the open and defend the space around it.

Insects going in and out of a hole in the ground.

That is usually yellow jackets, and a ground nest is nothing to poke at.

Repeated stings around one area of the yard.

Stings clustering in one spot mean a nest close by, even if you cannot see it yet.

Process

From first call to nest gone, in four simple steps.

Wasp and yellow jacket nests get removed, not relocated, and the job runs in this order.

1

Send a photo or call

Tell us what the nest looks like and where it is. A photo from a safe distance is enough.

Text or call, either works
2

Get a clear estimate

You get a range and what could change it, before anyone goes anywhere near the nest.

Upfront pricing
3

Treat the nest

The nest is treated and taken down, and people and pets stay clear of the area while we work.

Safety first
4

Check for others

We look over the rest of the property, because one nest on a house is very often not the only one.

Straight answers on cost

What moves the price on a wasp job

Nests vary in size, height and number, and the price follows. These are the things that decide it.

4 cost factors

Size and number of nests

One nest and five nests around the same property are two very different jobs.

Height and access

An eave, a second story and a hole in the ground each need their own setup.

Where the nest is

Out in the open, tucked inside a void or underground below the lawn.

Time of year

A colony in spring is a fraction of the size of the same colony in late summer.

"Kris did an amazing job! He was quick and efficient at removing a yellow jacket nest on our property. Afterward he even walked our property to make sure we didn't have any other nests. It's been a few days and I haven't seen any more. Great job!!"

Questions

Wasp and yellow jacket questions

Still have a wasp question? Call and ask, advice is free.

Are these honey bees? +

Almost certainly not. Honey bees build wax comb and the colony holds together in one mass. Wasps and yellow jackets build grey paper, either an open comb under an eave or a closed nest in a void or a hole in the ground. If the nest is papery, you are not looking at bees.

Do you relocate wasps and yellow jackets? +

No. Live relocation is what we do for honey bees, because a honey bee colony can be rehomed and kept. Wasps and yellow jackets are handled as a safety problem instead: the nest is treated and taken down, and the area is kept clear of people and pets while that happens.

Why did they show up so suddenly? +

They usually did not. A nest is often weeks old before anybody notices it, and the colony keeps growing through the season, so what feels like a sudden arrival is a nest that finally got big enough to see. Late summer is when most of these calls come in.

Is it safe to knock the nest down myself? +

It is not worth it. Wasps and yellow jackets defend the nest hard, and knocking one down puts you in the middle of that with no gear on. Leave it where it is, keep people and pets back, and call. The advice is free either way.

Do you handle nests in the ground? +

Yes. A ground nest needs its own setup, since the colony is under the lawn rather than up on an eave, and everyone stays well back while it is treated and cleared.
